Now We Are One!
Phew. Finally imported my old blog like I’ve been planning to do.
The actual importing was very easy. WordPress managed everything. But the problem was that it didn’t ask me which category to place the posts in. It chose the default category (Introspection, in my case) and I had to spend some time manually moving some hundred posts or so to the correct category (Old Blog).
Anyway, it’s all done and the old blog’s URL is permanent redirecting to this blog. You can view all the old posts from this link: Old Blog (it’s also available under Categories on the left).
Some tutorials I consulted: Link 1, Link 2
Rambodoc, please look at the second tutorial link to further improve your redirection.
If there are any errors in the redirections or anything, please leave a comment.

Congratulations, moving sites between different places might be challenging a lot. Especially when you want to get your stuff from free account, not sure it is possible to set any redirects from wordpress.com for e.g.
By luck you choose Blogspot

Sindhu, I made no changes to the banner. Perhaps something got messed up with your browse cache? Ctrl + F5 should refresh the cache and display the banner.
Florchakh, I had never even heard of WordPress back then and the only other blogs I knew were on Blogspot. So it is lucky that Blogspot allows access to the template to edit meta tags and set up the redirect.

Marc,
Thanks for the link. The tutorial is very good. I am, however, stuck in the middle of the coding stuff.
I posted a comment in that site. There is a problem with a widget identity called Blog2. Don’t know what the fork is happening!
