Semester 7, Exam 6 - Information Security

What a bad day.

For the first time ever we had an exam in the afternoon session. That meant we could either go to college in the morning by college bus and sit there for over 5 hours waiting for the exam to start or we would turn up in the afternoon.

I had planned to go by bike to college later in the morning since no one knew if we had college buses or not. Unfortunately it started raining in the morning. I got caught up in the rain at Tiruvanmyur but the skies cleared as I travelled the 25 kilometres from one district to another. Thanks to the extra shirt I had bought I didn’t shiver to death. The roads had been completely destroyed in parts on the OMR and vehicles at to move at 10 kmph. Very annoying. Some managed to get to college, cold and wet.

And then the exam. They asked stuff I hadn’t studied (though Ganesh and the others claimed that they had in fact studied those very questions) and so it was story time. Ended up with right index finger and thumb hurting like mad at the end of the exam. (I use only those two fingers to hold the pen.)

Drove back after the exam on the crappy roads. Atleast it didn’t rain.

So not worth it.

Atleast you had something to do, and a long drive ahead of you. I was cooped up at home all day.

  2. Marc Z says:

Writing an exam does not count as something to do! Dude!

  3. Gowtham says:

but still you would have atteded all the questions. and filled up all the 44 pages, which is mandatory to pass.

  4. Karthik says:

Dude, its worth it to go the round about way through Kovalam. Seriously and your mileage increases as well, inspite of driving a longer distance!! not only is OMR annoying, its also dangerous…have you seen those huge craters they dig up ? bloody you are travelling in the rain and you dont see the craters. you will end up going right in someday, i tell you :D

  5. Marc Z says:

Gowtham, I have never filled more than 27 pages in any theory exam. For the first time I reached 30. And I skipped one 16 marks question entirely.

Karthik, that’s the plan from now on. Going via Kovalam.

  6. Arun says:

How do you write with only two fingers? It is a very faulty technique.

  7. Marc Z says:

If it’s faulty I shouldn’t be able to write at all.

I’ve found that by holding the writing instrument with two fingers I can write really fast. I also hold it about 2 to 3 centimetres from the tip. My theory is the more fingers you use, the lesser your speed. Try it you’ll see.

  8. Karthik says:

that way you should be faster with one finger ;) the finger. I am sure that wont take you anywhere with the exams though!!

well we all hold it with only two fingers. the third is meant to support the writing instrument thats all.

I know of people who use their thumb and middle finer, with the index finger pointing in some arbit direction. :D

  9. Marc Z says:

Karthik, I do not use a third finger at all. The way I hold it is similar to how you hold a pinch of salt.

  10. Rachel says:

Marc, this is first anna univ ques paper asking ques either from first or second part of syllabus. i heard we are the only coll who took information security elective( i don’t know whether it’s true or not)

  11. Marc Z says:

I’m not quite sure what you mean. And out of the 200+ engineering colleges a few others should have taken I.S. also.

  12. sharad says:

    did u pass the paper?

  13. Marc Z says:

    Yes I did.
