A New IP, A New Beginning
Many people using BSNL and Airtel connections seem to think that they have the same IP on the internet. They’re all completely wrong. Every time you connect to the internet by using a dialer or by turning on the modem (the modem configuration contains the login details) you are assigned a new IP address. This is called a dynamic IP. (You can always leave your modem on for a long long time and keep a single IP address but this isn’t even an exception. Just holding the IP with an active device.)
Now for sites like Rapidshare that enforce silly limits per IP, dynamic IP comes in very useful. You can simply disconnect and use the dialer program to reconnect. Takes only seconds. But if you have set the modem to automatically connect to the internet you’ll have to turn off the modem and turn it on again for a new IP. The fastest method is to use the dialer to disconnect and then reconnect.
Edit: Creating a batch file to release and renew IP address gives you back the same IP address as ‘A Test’ explained in the comments.
Oh by the way, law enforcement agencies can track you to your house with your IP address depending on how much your ISP cooperates with them. They can simply look up the user account to which the IP address was allotted and then get the address of the user from their billing database. I’m not saying it is often done in India. I’m saying it is possible but it will take time (to contact ISP, get records etc.)

How do you save it as a .bat file?

Dai!

well, not exactly correct. You will get the same IP even if you release and renew, unless you have specified a very small IP expires interval (which is not a good configuration). This design is so as to ensure that even if you have small duration connectivity drops you will have the same IP. BTW, if you are using anonymizers, it would be very difficult to track your IP as the IP that gets exposed to the real world is different from the actual IP that you have.

The above will give you your real IP address, while the ipconfig command will give your internal IP (especially if you are using a DSL modem).

Tell how da!

Looks like the batch file method doesn’t work after all. I reconfigured my router for bridge mode and set it up to use a dialer. Also edited the post. Thanks for the tip, ‘A Test’ dude.
Also, using proxies will help you hide but most people here haven’t heard of proxies.

nooob comments.. havent heard of proxies? .. puhlese, anybody who loves orkut has heard about proxies, that brings into count 99% of the orkut junkies.
T test person thinks you dont know the diff. between internal ip and external so he gone on to explain about it.
i didnt understand this part though:
BTW, if you are using anonymizers, it would be very difficult to track your IP as the IP that gets exposed to the real world is different from the actual IP that you have.
what is trying to say ? if we use something like tor vidalia we’d see a different ip (ive an addon in firefox that tells me my current external ip) and what websites say like rapidshares sees is different? what?!?!? that totally beats the concept of tcp/ip ;/

You people are not answering my question yet! How to create a .bat file? Tell me please.

Sindhu, everyone knows about Orkut proxies. As far as they know a proxy can be used to access Orkut. That’s about it. They don’t know what it does or what else it can do. The concept of TCP/IP is not for every person to be on the IP assigned to them. It’s a protocol to enable communication and people are free to do with it as they please.

@Sindhu
Orkut is blocked in most of the Institutions. However you can browse using proxy server. In your office or educational institutions, sites like Orkut,MySpace etc get blocked in the local proxy server through which all your requests of internet data and access will be sent, so when a request for data from the particular domain is encountered it will be blocked or allowed based on the settings in the local proxy server.
Why institutions use proxy server?
- To prevent access to potentially dangerous or offensive sites.
- To reduce bandwidth. Proxy server are used for caching. Many ppl might access same site, so the images and other stuff will be cached. So it reduces need to download data again and again for each user.
These are the main uses upto my knowledge.
How to bypass?
You can bypass using Anonymity proxy servers like gtunnel.com, ktunnel.com, mtunnel.com etc.
What do anonymity proxy servers do?
When you type a URL you want to browse, anonymity proxy server caches the page and shows you the page. So, your local proxy thinks that its coming from mtunnel or gtunnel. This also blocks your IP from Server where your required URL is hosted.
If the anonymity proxy server is blocked you wont be able to use that proxy server for accessing blocked web pages. Since your local proxy blocks all traffic from and to anonymity proxy server.
I hope this solves all your doubts.

She didn’t have any doubts to begin with. She knows all about them.

Batch files are nothing but the notepad saved as .BAT and then the commands are used., Most probably Dos commands…
January 17th, 2008 at 6:55 pm
What you mean is, batch files are text files saved with a .bat extension.
