Semester Results Are Out (Nov/Dec 2007)
The results for last semester are out. You can find them on the Anna Univ site as always. If it isn’t being overloaded by thousands of engineering students, that is.
I’m quite happy with the results, for the first time ever. I passed both my Math papers (arrears). I did flunk one subject - Total Quality Management. That’s alright, since it’s a theory paper. I’ll just have to write more bullshit next time and I’ll pass. I’m happy that it’s the only subject I flunked.
Incredibly, against all odds, I managed to pass even DSP! (This was only because the correction was very lenient.) Very few people failed in DSP and that was a pleasant surprise. Vinod also passed, as everyone predicted. See this post where he assured us that he won’t pass the subject.
The rest of my classmates… they didn’t do so well. People who have never failed a subject before or had no arrears the last semester have failed some subjects. What a disappointment to fail a subject in the 7th semester! This brings down the number of people with no current arrears to around 10 and those with no history of arrears to about 4 or 5.
This might affect placements for quite a number of people. Actually, now that I think about it, it won’t affect placements that much since our college doesn’t have that many placement activities anyway.

The results will upset the plans of those who were intending to attend the state level placement being organized by Anna university for affiliated colleges. It commences from tomorrow.

Ya, thats right. It might not affect tomorrow’s CTS placements at AU, but all future placements. But on the whole, I feel the results weren’t much of a shocker for many. Except the fact that lotsa people seem to have TQM as one of their list of arrears. Wonder why correct such management papers so strictly…

I failed one subject. C# .Net. Will you believe it? Mother-fucking bastards. Something’s wrong. I wouldn’t have given it a second thought if it’d been DSP. But seriously, C#? No way.

@ Srividya.
Why do you say Srividya@blogspot? It’s a . not a @.
January 27th, 2008 at 11:00 am
Marc’s right in saying that it won’t affect the placements in our college that much. Leaving out a few exceptional people who have extraordinarily good aggregates (at the expense of other things necessary to get you placed), all other people have already been placed. We can’t even attend the Anna Univ placements. People eligible for Anna Univ placements in my class is something like 2 candidates. If they flunked ofcourse, then it’s going to be bad.
January 27th, 2008 at 11:02 am
Hey, what happens if you paid 750 bucks attended CTS and then flunked ?? Buggers, yet another way to make money!!
They were supposed to announce the results before the placements. (They already had one on Friday that CS , IT people don’t know about. Godrej, with a pay of 3 lpa.)

Cool typo.

Srividya, someone told me that Anna Univ would consider results only till the 6th semester for their recruitment drive. Still, it would be quite demoralizing for them.
Praveen, I too wonder what they were thinking. What’s the point of being so strict with management papers?
Sundar, you failed a subject?! Unbelievable! You’ve never failed anything before!
Karthik is right. All the qualified people are already placed and hence can’t go to Anna Univ for the recruitment drive. And very few of the rest are eligible. Only two people from my class for today. They would be competing against thousands!
Oh, and we heard about Godrej. I believe my exact response to that was “Who the hell wants to work at Godrej?!” and then they told me it was for Mechanical department students only.

what a man,u are a perfect g……r!!!!

Unexpected results this time, coz most of us cleared DSP paper though we had the worst staff for it( as usual).
January 28th, 2008 at 9:40 pm
harish, the only thing I’ve gathered in engineering is arrears.
Rachel, yeah. DSP arrears would have been too painful.
January 29th, 2008 at 12:01 am
@Marc
Well, godrej was for Mech(82%, ECE(82%) and EEE(80%). Since, I am the placement student coordinator for my class, I am sure of this. But you, as Karthik has mentioned, all of the students from Mech, ECE and EEE with minimum of the above mentioned aggregates are all placed well in Infosys and MphasiS. So, none of my college guys actuall attended it.
“Who the hell wants to work at Godrej”??? What??? Hey dude! Its quite a good company! The only problem is, the growth opportunities there will be at a very slow but steady pace…
January 29th, 2008 at 12:16 am
It’s not that Godrej isn’t a good company. I meant that I wouldn’t want anything to do with it since it’s not what I want to do.

Yeah, fixing refrigerators gets boring after a while.
January 30th, 2008 at 12:13 pm
Dude! Give my paper to a qualified DSP staff to correct it and you will see my actual result for that paper. I did IP well but you saw what happened in that.
P.S. I am commenting from college. The problem is still there while attempting to comment in your blog.
January 30th, 2008 at 7:55 pm
@Vinod, stop kindin. If we give your paper to any qualified DSP Staffs , am damn sure you would score more marks than what you’ve got now ;D
January 30th, 2008 at 9:59 pm
George, yeah. That is what came to my mind immediately.
Vinod, the point is that you passed as we all predicted. How is irrelevant.
rachel, you’re right. Vinod is the DSP expert.
