No way man! You are not sure to be called just because you have an offer letter sent by the company. go and ask seniors if you need any proof. Just talk to seniors sometime to know whats going on there with them. There are so many seniors from other colleges too who still didn't get their appointment order but their juniors have been called for training. There are many of them who waited for more than two years for the job but didn't get and eventually ended in some BPO.

Vinod, you have incorrect information. Delays in getting the offer letter is not the same as not being called for the job at all. The company has to call you for the job eventually. They have a legal obligation.

@Vinod,

Your semior Shiva must either sue Wipro or Anna University. And what's he doing about it anyway ? If it were me, I'd have gone to their office and demanded an explanation. Or sent them mails at half an hour intervals till they replied.

Having said that, demand for people in It industry is extremely dynamic. One day they want 1000 people , the other day they no longer can have them on their payroll. But if you are good enough, (and you will be if you are working towards your passion and not just joining Engg for herd behavioral reasons) then theres no reason to fear anything.

But Wipro has this reputation of calling people really really late. Losers!!

Also, if so many people realise that IT is infact bad, then it's time to explore other avenues, don't you think ?

(BTW, you can't really call our Infy placement as placement because it was worse than a mock interview. They will kick incompetent people out during training.)

@ Marc
I have a proof for Satish's words.
Our passed out senior (I think you very well know Shiva) attended the off campus which is conducted by AU for all self financing colleges in the year 2006 (August 2006) and was placed in WIPRO. Now its almost two years and he is still waiting for the appointment order (Well he is now working in some other company). But other students who got placed in the same company in that year were called. Now what will you say about this??? So it is company's wish to call a student after he is placed in that company or not. You will get the job for sure ONLY if you get the appointment order which tells you the date of joining. And even students who are placed through on campus can't be given the assurance that they will get the job for sure. In one college in 2007 students were placed in Caritor (Keene system is its name now. I think...) and are yet to be called.
Wipro placed students (our set students) have started to go for training in Wipro now itself while they are studying... You can ask Gany for this. His friend is going for training now itself even though the course is not yet over. Getting placed by clearing the rounds in an interview won't give you the assurance of getting a job. So don't think that we are all placed. We are not placed till we get the appointment order mentioning the date of joining. This is what really happening in the IT industry.

You know very well that the only reason I use Windows is for compatibility with games. Microsoft took over the market by aggressive and unethical business strategies. Anyone can do that.

And yeah the only companies that respect Microsoft certification are ones that work for them or use their products exclusively.

Well, yeah, he's got you there Marc, you're locked into Microsoft too.

Anyway, it depends on what you're doing, but in general I don't think the MCSDs and MCSEs are available any more and I don't think anyone beyond some small companies thinks they mean anything.
