Test Your Awareness

When you are concentrating on something, strange things are known to happen. This is an awareness video for a cyclist safety campaign. Watch this video:

The mind doesn’t always work that way you expect it to, does it?

Also, the average intelligence of YouTube commenters can be determined from this one comment (for the video above):

cyclists should not be on the road, they did not pay fuel tax.

I like it. Most people I showed it to missed it. Funny. I have to admit that I did too. Very cleverly done.

but on the road you’re told to watch out for pedestrians and cyclists so you’d actually be looking for them.

sharad, that is not what Karthik meant and it’s not a publicity stunt. It is a real campaign.

Arun, the bear was too small to resemble Ragha.

George, yeah it was very well done.

Suren, the video shows that when you are concentrating on something you might not see other things. In India, we expect animals/pedestrians/cyclists to come rushing out of every side street onto the road so we drive carefully. But in developed countries they are used to empty roads.

Anusha, what are you telling those people?!

Gowtham, I know the first comment is yours.

and i’m saying people do concentrate on cyclists. you can’t not spot something like a cyclist. what a waste of an otherwise nice concept.
