Why would I argue that? It could be true and I could still be right. It could be false and I could still be wrong. Arguing over that would achieve nothing. We would be no nearer the truth than we are now.

It definitely is more likely than you thinking humans have innate aesthetic senses. How about an uncivilized cannibal living somewhere in Africa? He would think a piece of human flesh lying on a stone slab is a beautiful thing. You cannot argue that this has never happened in the history of mankind.

Going round and round, you think probability of everything beautiful to someone somewhere > 0 only because you think that is true. It makes sense to you because you think it sounds likely.

I, on the other hand, think that human beings have a certain sense of aesthetics. We have certain limitations, and certain rules by which we base our judgement.

Everything that conforms to these rules is beautiful to someone somewhere but everything outside this isn't.

That part is my opinion.

The fact of the matter is we simply do not know. The existence of people with different tastes does not mean that for each taste there exists at least one person. It could be, or it could not be. And your speculation as to which one makes more sense is just that, speculation.

Probability of something not beautiful to anyone ~ 0

So it's more than just my opinion. It makes more sense.

You missed the point entirely. Try reading the post again and the comments.

George, that is merely your opinion. Every single thing might be beautiful to someone somewhere.

Indian culture is so vast and ancient that it is very difficult to define it in a well structured manner. I somehow cannot agree that it is only a set of beliefs, rules and practices…

What can I say, if you put the three beside each other nobody would like it. Not in the same way. It's just like that. It's pat-on-the-head cute to believe that all things are beautiful in their own way, but that's simply not true.

How can you be sure nobody would like it? That is generalisation. So now you're saying you can judge art. I will hold you to that.

Who cares if you like it? That's not the point. Those paintings are of a different style, whether or not you like it.

And ha ha, nobody, sir, would like it. If you only knew how far apart the two are. And you cannot judge art? Cute statement, but unfortunately untrue.
