Heading to Mysore

My employers sent me an email yesterday.

They want me to come chill with them on June 23rd at their hangout in Mysore. I told them to come to Elliots beach instead but they said heat exhaustion was not their thing. So I have to go all the way there.

There go my holidays. I have to pack and stuff when all I want to do is sit at home and relax for a few months.

The BJP bastards lied their way to an election win in Karnataka and are probably planning another massacre of minority communities. I don’t want to be there when the State-sponsored violence starts up.

    Ah, saare, Mysore is nice city. Many temples. Nice temples. How long is training?

  2. Arun M says:

    Ahem! you called them to Elliots!

    Excerpts from Marc’s offer letter

    The location of your initial reporting and training will be Mysore, U.S.A

    The regular working hours will be intimated to you after you join. We will send a helicopter to pick you up at the station if you are unable to come otherwise.

  3. Srividya Jayaraman says:

    Haha, yeah Marc.

    Some of us believed you were playing a game, since you were the first one to get the email and your edited version was too funny.

  4. Praveen says:

    Wow, awesome dude! How did you get it so soon? My college guys got placed a month before you did, and I dont think they have been called in yet!

  5. Marc Z says:

    Not sure about the funny part. I edited out most of my personal details and threw in a few lines to see if people would notice. Another reason was that I didn’t want my offer letter forwarded to hundreds (if not thousands) of B.E. students waiting eagerly to get called for work there.

    Praveen, as if we wanted it this fast. No idea why we got called first.

  6. Marc Z says:

    Also, I edited the person to contact to ‘Labak Dass’ for a few people in that email. No one caught that one.

  7. Rachel says:

    Congrats dude! Anyway i guess i am heading out in august :)

  8. Arun says:

    Very unlucky. Many have to wait for more than 8 months to get into company training. Anyway, forfeit all your properties to Ragha. Start afresh.

  9. Suren says:

    ouch, that is freakishly early. my brother had to wait till september to join training.

  10. Sundar says:

    Did you know? You can now wear bling to work at Infosys.

  11. Rachel says:

    Hey Sundar

    Whether Infosys allows wearing a bling or danglers :) . All these ppl worry about is not Bling-bling but why they were called so soon which was really unexpected by the people who got placed.

  12. Selerines says:

    June 23 ha? My goodness…. Any way good luck for all of you… Hi Marc. How is your preparation going on?

  13. Karthik says:

    @Marc,

    You are just looking for reasons to stay home and play video games.

    BJP in Karnataka is not the same as BJP in Gujarat.(Actually I don’t really know, but then I am guessing so.)

    I got the Labak Das. It didn’t matter. I thought it was fake all along. :)

  14. Marc Z says:

    Bling is hardly important.

    Karthik, what’s wrong with staying at home and playing computer games? It’s the same as staying at home and watching TV, playing cricket and reading novels. Why discrimination against gamers?

    BJP is BJP from Kashmir to Kanyakumari.

    You are fake.

  15. vinod says:

    @ Selerines
    His preparation for what?

    @ Karthik
    You want to work but don’t think that you are right. I think many deserve more holidays. You may be thirsty to prove your talents in Infosys and won’t care about being called so soon. But I and few others do care about it :P

  16. Marc Z says:

    We really deserve holidays after four years of engineering. We had hardly a week holidays at the end of the first year and most of the other gaps were spent worrying about results. Karthik is The Champ and can keep working like a machine but not us mere mortals.

  17. Karthik says:

    Vinod,

    Who said I am right or wrong ? I am sure you all deserve lots of holidays. When did I say I want to work either ? :)

    I’d rather sleep all day at home. But then unless you want to prove George right and keep cribbing your entire life, you should really let go. Well, yes we would all like more vacation, but then they have asked us to come on June 23rd. So leave it at that. I don’t see why you are cribbing about it. You can’t be choosy about everything in life.

    Thirsty to prove my talents ? I didn’t know I had any. :D Thanks man. Now, I have gotten Self Confidence and will be unique. (Siva bashing once more.)

    @Marc,

    You want holidays, yes. Deserve holidays ? No!!
    I can’t keep working. I just want some money before I can quit Infy. :) As for you, you are panakkara payyan.

  18. Marc Z says:

    You don’t get to decide what people deserve.

    You have to be choosy about things in life and not take all the crap that comes at you. What you term cribbing is our frustration at not being to get some time off after years of pain.

  19. Visu says:

    Aah, Now stop whining like a kid and get into work..
    ‘Enna Rascala , mind it’.

  20. Karthik says:

    @Marc,

    You will crib forever.

    @Visu,

    Totally agree. :)

  21. Marc Z says:

    Karthik, you will forever claim that engineering was fun and that work is great as people look incredulously at you and wonder how many times you were dropped as a baby.

  22. Karthik says:

    They wonder that ?

  23. Marc Z says:

    They have to unless someone maintained records of how many times babies were dropped in which case they would know for sure.
