I’m Not Going… Yet

I had been quite annoyed from the time we received the email asking us to report for training on the 23rd of this month at Mysore. After four years of engineering I had expected a nice long holiday to recover; not a measly 52 days.

I spent the beginning of this week preparing for the two month stay at Mysore. I applied for the passport, registered with the NSR, bought some more formal clothes and so on. However AU still hadn’t published my results and I wondered if this would be a problem. Two weeks earlier, the HR department of my employer had advised me to report on the 23rd even if the results were not out. I decided to check again with them this week and this time their answer was different. They said I couldn’t report for training without getting my results but I could extend the date of joining and get into the next batch.

My parents were determined to send me off for training as soon as possible and called up random people at the company from contact numbers in the various documents that were mailed to me. The HR department said that it was alright and that I could go. But now I didn’t want to go since I had a good reason to extend my holidays!

I was saved by the Service Agreement that arrived in the mail the next day which said that I had to extend my join date if I had pending results. That decided it. I wasn’t going. I went to the college and got a letter from the Watchman asking to be put in the next batch and sent it off to the HR department by email. They replied in a few hours granting me the extension.

So, I’m going to be here for a few more months. It finally worked out in my favour, for once. Thanks Anna University!

  2. Arun says:

You made me go shopping with you for pretty pink formal shirts for nothing? God damn you with Ragha!

  3. Marc Z says:

Gowtham, yeah for the first time I have benefited from them.

Arun, I didn’t buy a single pink shirt. Also I did need those clothes anyway.

  4. Hari says:

    What? I mean, the Watchman?

  6. Hari says:

Its obviously my college Principal. He mean it.

  7. Sundar says:

“Thanks Anna University” on Marc’s blog. Will wonders never cease?

And what was all this business about getting letters from watchmen?

  8. Sundar says:

And you went and bought pink shirts? PINK? Who are you? PSP?

  9. Arun M says:

Thambi! Anna University kadavul madhiri. Sodhikkum, aana kai vidadhu :D :D

  10. Arun M says:

    @Sundar
ROTFL! Pink shirts! Yeah! PSP :P :P

  11. Marc Z says:

Hari, yeah she went. However it does state in the service agreement that you cannot go with pending results.

George and Sundar, see Hari’s explanation. We don’t think he deserves to be called a Principal.

Also I already said that I didn’t buy pink shirts. I am neither PSP nor his follower.

  12. Sundar says:

You are not PSP’s follower? gosh.

  13. visu says:

Marc, you are surely missing something da.

  14. Rachel says:

Before getting your letter, did you show your ID card :)

  15. George says:

Oh, I didn’t get it because we rarely meet our principal. Ha ha, Watchman, ha ha.

  16. Selerines says:

@Marc : You told me that our Principal a.k.a Watchman is changed…. Is it true?

  17. Adithya says:

Sad. You shouldn’t have so many days off. Get to work!!

  18. Arun says:

If you guys see him wear a pink shirt, you will know the truth of it.

  19. Adithya says:

    Pink? Only Ragha wears pink!!

  20. Marc Z says:

Arun was standing in the lingerie section and refused to come out of there. Finally I had to leave him and go to the men’s floor.

  21. sharad says:

  22. bharath says:

  23. bharath says:

    that is heart not hear……..

  24. Praveen says:

Atleast you were not asked to come, 28 TN ppl who were trained in my company for 10 days were asked to go back since their results were awaited. What wud have been their plight?

  25. Marc Z says:

It’s their fault for not confirming if they had to come.

  26. Arun says:

Marc, I don’t see anything perverse in being around the lingerie section. If the women weren’t bothered, why are you?
