Studying, For Real

I expected studying to be the last thing I’d do with this netbook. A curious turn of events led to this situation. Well, it’s not like it’s a gaming machine anyway. I’m playing Final Fantasy 6 on it! When we get some free time we’re going to have a CS game with the few laptops we have. Except that I didn’t think of buying a mouse and now I need one. I tried playing with the trackpad and you can guess how that would have gone. There’s a big freaking LCD TV in my room. Too bad it has only S-Video and HDMI inputs and I don’t have outputs for either. Also, my GeForcee 7300 GT AGP is for sale. It’s my card that I don’t need anymore now that I’m not using my desktop. There’s still warranty time left and I need the money to buy a EVDO modem so help me out here! Edit: The TV does have a video port hidden at the back. Woohoo! Still stuck in my room though. Hopefully I get a ticket on tomorrow’s train at least.

“I’m playing Final Fantasy 6 on it!”

I knew this would happen. was pretty darn sure and lo! it did.

Our Bravia has a VGA port but the EEE’s graphics card just won’t support that resolution (it’s 26″).

    and HDMI is expensive :/

You can get cheap HDMI cables for less than Rs. 500, that’s not too bad. But the EeePC has HDMI-out? That’s pretty impressive.

Marc, you’ve got a computer good enough to emulate a PSX and you insist on playing Gameboy games. Pity is felt.

Sindhu, what is surprising about FF6? It’s a great game and I still have the ROM and associated save states from my first computer.

Too bad the netbook can’t handle the resolution.

    George,
HDMI cable is around Rs. 250 but the EeePC does not have HDMI out.

I’m playing FF6 because it’s an awesome game and I never finished it.

What the hell are you doing playing counter-strike on your laptop in your room? You can play it in class! They give you super systems for that!

  5. Marc says:

The hell I can. I don’t even have appropriate permissions to install Communicator.

  6. Sundar says:

Use net messenger then. You dont have admin rights on your pc?

  7. Karthik says:

Hack Hack Hack Hack!! ;) Well I would suggest you don’t listen to Sundar. Last thing you want is to be booted out.

And even when we were there and the circumstances not so bad, we had people being fined 2k for playing CS in class. That loads of people didn’t get caught is another matter altogether ;)

Oh and I used Gtalk when there btw. :)

I actually follow the software policy and hence haven’t installed any programs on my machine.

We can’t install most programs even if we wanted anyway. People have started playing flash games embedded in other documents, though. And the forward menace continues, filling up my mailbox with baby pictures and miscellaneous crap every day.

Oh, he follows the software policy.
