I’m On Facebook
I was bored enough to try out a social networking website called Facebook. I have known about the site for many years, actually. Back then, when I first tried to sign up, it was an exclusive site only for people in American schools and colleges. You could sign up only if you had an official email address from their list of educational institutions. So obviously I couldn’t get in. These days it’s open to everyone and they seem to have made it less dull.
My first impression is that the site’s interface is pretty confusing and there isn’t a tutorial or a floating help window anywhere in site. The integrated chat was something I didn’t like, since I usually close browser tabs when I’ve finished reading their contents and that ends up terminating the chat.
If you’re on Facebook add me at
PS: The Mafia Wars game (application) that I found Nikhil playing is great fun… try it out.

Why don’t you tell everyone what you originally signed up as??

He’s back to Marc Zephyrin now, Anusha, so that should be okay. But seriously, of all the names to go pick. I had no clue who that ‘Sridar’ chap was.

You can pop out the chat, hopefully it shouldn’t close then

I signed up as Jayaprakash Sridhar. Initially I signed up for the site to try it out and didn’t want Adithya to locate me. So I used a generic name and a randomly chosen profile photo from Facebook (which Anusha mistook for me… tsk tsk).
Thanks for the tip, Isha. I merciless close windows though and anything that doesn’t minimize to system tray when I hit close is gone.
What is OurWorld, Pratheep? http://ourworld.com doesn’t seem that interesting.
