I Say It Is Too Early

I went to my old friend’s wedding reception today at West Mambalam. Aishwarya was a classmate in PSBB some 11 years ago. It was a grand and crazy affair. Met up with other old friends from PSBB (Mouli, Anandan and Rajesh).

Another classmate of mine was married last month and yet another will be in a few more months. I don’t particular like this trend of marrying off girls this young. What about their own lives and careers? Wouldn’t they want to do something with their lives? Now don’t say they will have careers after marriage. Our ‘culture’ will expect them to do the duties of a housewife also and eventually the strain will make them give up their jobs.

Harikumar Is Online

‘All Clear’ Harikumar finally got a fraudband connection at home. Taking my recommendation, he chose Airtel instead of BSNL so he won’t get inflated bills or inept customer service. Now he should come to play CS regularly. (Speaking of which, I’m taking a break from the game. It has gotten boring without new maps to play.)

He’s also started a new blog at Ampli5.org. Let’s see if he updates it regularly.

The Mattamaana Shop

The Mattamaana Paiyan, Muthu, has started a shop where the old Mari cycle shop (on the way home from SJBN) used to be.

Ragha and I went earlier today and inspected it. (It was dark by then so no photos.) He has set up a juice stall and a bubble top water can delivery service there. He also seems to have acquired a tricycle and two boys to deliver the cans.

Now Ragha is planning to offer his Free Killing services to customers from this shop and is he planning many special offers so make sure you don’t miss them.

Optical Correction for Canine Nutrition

Arun now wears glasses. Join the club, Arun!

Glasses are such a pain when you have to wear a helmet. You’ll have to take off glasses, put them in your pocket or on the seat of the bike, put on your helmet and then wear the glasses again. Very annoying when you have to run errands and end up doing this over and over again. What is weird is that Arun never realised his eyesight had degraded until he went and tested his eyesight.

Adithya has photos of the new bespectacled Arun but is demanding money for them so we’ll just have to wait until he puts them up on his blog.

I love the post title!

Network Solutions Screws Alayan

Just recently I read this article on the front page of Digg (/Technology) about a domain registrar called Network Solutions that immediately registers domains that you check for availability on their site (if you don’t buy it right away).

Today Alayan comes and says that he is going to buy an awesome new domain.

Me: ‘Was it available?’
Him: ‘Yeah. I checked at Network Solutions.’
Me: ‘ZOMG NOOB! Hahahaha!’

I then explained to him that the domain would be gone. Sure enough, he goes home, checks, calls me up and starts cursing Network Solutions.

Of all the sites on the Internet, he had to use that one.

What Not To Mix With Apple Juice

Suren is completely nuts.

The first time, he mixed some apple juice into tequila even though I told him not to. George, temporarily blinded by Suren’s insanity, followed suit. Needless to say, they both ended up with two glasses of undrinkable liquid.

Another time, we were drinking some wine. Suren grabbed a glass of apple juice and proceeded to mix it with the wine, as we watched in horror. He then had the gall to claim that his vile concoction was ‘better’.

What the hell is wrong with you dude?!

Gowtham Is Eating Our Bandwidth!

A few days ago Ragha sent me a message and telling me that Ampli5.org had run out of bandwidth and asked me to fix it. This was odd since I had set the maximum bandwidth for that account to 10 GB and it wasn’t likely that all of the people with blogs on the account would use up that much. The bandwidth usage for last month was only 2 GB (for that account).

Imagine my surprise when I got home and found the account showing 9 GB of bandwidth used. So I changed the upper limit to 20 GB and set about examining who was using that much bandwidth. It turned out to be Gowtham’s blog. I called up Gowtham and asked him if he had done anything out of the ordinary and he told me that he hadn’t. Meanwhile one of the people at my host contacted me and told me that the particular blog was using up a lot of bandwidth and was causing 200% CPU usage.

Later at night I checked Awstats for the subdomain and it turned out that the massive bandwidth usage was caused by a single IP address. And this IP address was actually the server’s own IP address! What the hell. By now the bandwidth usage was 18 GB, and it was only 6 days into the month. I asked George to reinstall the blog hoping that it would help and it did, but no before bandwidth usage was 25 GB.

Arun’s Epic Helmet Shoulderpads

After many hours of intense studying, Arun has obtained Epic Helmet Shoulderpads.

Epic Helmet Shoulderpads

Is he now powerful enough to challenge Ragha?

The sad truth is, no one is powerful enough to fight Ragha. Not even this guy.

Florchakh posted a link in the comments of this post about an emo freakshow and there is a photo of Arun there!

Travelling With Ragha (Part 2)

Barrelling down a road with Ragha driving.

Bike View

In the mad dash to Mount Road, we saw some interesting things. I asked Ragha to slow down to take pictures.

UN license plates! Never seen them before. (Ragha insisted that I take a photo of the car’s occupants but I didn’t.)

UN License Plate

I didn’t recognise the flag at the front of this car. I checked the Internet and found that it was the Chinese flag.

Chinese License Plate

I saw another strange license plate but the car went away before I could get a shot of it. Was there some kind of international conference going on in the city?

Travelling With Ragha

I had to go to the Nokia Service Center at Mount Road today so I enlisted the services of Ragha to get there. He raced through R.A. Puram and Alwarpet, twisting, turning, braking and accelerating while I held on for dear life and screamed at him to slow down.

Travelling With Ragha

I do not know how I survived.
