Sleep Is Overrated

After extensive research on the subject, I conclude that by going to sleep late at night (4 AM) and waking up late the next day (3 PM) I spend a few extra hours sleeping that I could do without. So I’ve started going to bed at 1 AM and I find myself waking up automatically at 10 AM. Not only is this more comfortable, I also save two hours, which I can then use for something else. Like writing about how I saved that time.

Holidays rule, because you can do stuff like this.

Incidentally, let’s laugh at George who has to go to college every day. (He doesn’t, but that is besides the point.)

Soul Saving

I was thinking…

SOS is ‘Save Our Souls’. Sometimes I might not feel like saving everyone. So I’d have to send out ‘Save My Soul’. I’d be sending a SMS.

Maybe I should stop thinking…

I’ll Talk About The Symposium Later

Sundar asks why I didn’t write about the symposium. I didn’t because it wasn’t that exciting. I’ll get to it eventually. Meanwhile you can read these posts (here, here and here) if you are interested.

I would also congratulate Ganesh for doing even less work than me.

Smoke On The Water - Alternate Versions

Smoke On the Water is a very famous song by Deep Purple.

Watch the video here if you’ve never heard this song before. (If you have heard the song then skip the video and watch the next two videos.)

Deep Purple - Smoke On The Water (live version)

Now, prepare yourself for the Japanese version!

Ooedo No Hikeshi - Smoke on the Water

And now, the Jazz (?) version of the song.

Señor Coconut and his Orchestra - Smoke on the Water

What next? A version remixed with a Tamil song?

I found the alternate versions on Haha.nu

Choreo Night - IIT Saarang 2008

Yeah I was there. The show was at the OAT (Open Air Theatre) and it started by 6.30 PM. Alayan and I had standard tickets so we found a decent spot on the steps. Though the hard concrete was uncomfortable, the scorching sun caused it to retain warmth till 9 PM to it wasn’t that bad.

Choreo Night consisted of people dancing around in coloured costumes. The guy in charge of lights was a total moron as usual, using all sorts of random colour combinations which was seriously annoying. This time they turned off the lights where the audience was sitting so the stage looked much better.

I was bored initially with people talking some nonsense about polio and global warming, making the audience wonder what kind of idiots would chose themes like that for a dance. However I was very impressed by Crescent College of Engineering who used empty mirror frames and two people on both sides of the frame to create a mirror effect. The impressive part was that they always stuck to the theme, which meant that dancers on both sides of the frame did exactly the same moves at the right angles. They deserved to win but apparently they didn’t.

The rest of the themes were quite boring. Alayan and I left at 10.30 PM before the show ended.

The End of The Joker

January 23, Gotham City

It was a day of mixed reactions in Gotham City as news of the The Joker’s death reached the population. The criminal mastermind was found dead in his hideout day today. The Gotham City Police Department has not been forthcoming with details and many sources suspect that the death was due to an overdose of a new drug that The Joker was experimenting with.

The Joker Is Dead

Commissioner Browne requested that the police department be given more time to investigate the issue and rubbished rumours that this was an assassination by enemies or the police department. When asked if the Batman might have had something to do with this, the Commissioner suggested that perhaps the Batman should be asked this question and not him. He did not respond to reporters who suggested that this drug (referred to only as Ambien) was already in the city judging by reports of people behaving strangely. Billionaire Bruce Wayne has offered the use of facilities at Wayne Laboratories to study the effects of this new drug from samples obtained from the hideout.

Legal System Not Working, Sorry For The Inconvenience

Every day in the newspapers you hear about crimes being solved and sentences handed out to offenders. But if you read the entire article you will find that actual crime occurred atleast 10 years ago! The legal system in India is infamous for taking decades to clear cases.

In that time the offenders live their lives peacefully, showing up in court now and then to get their cases postponed. Witnesses turn hostile, thugs/policemen rape/kill/maim/intimidate the other witnesses and everyone else has forgotten about the incident. The police are also skilled at manufacturing evidence and conspire with whoever pays the most money to destroy actual evidence and train false witnesses.

By the time the final verdict is announced the original judge is dead, the victim is in hospital dying of old age (if they haven’t already been murdered), the children of the victim have forgotten what the case was about and the accused has become a respected figure in society.

I’m not just saying these things. They happen all the time. Just ask anyone who’s gone to court.

Playing The Money Game

Without my 3D card, I have run out of things to do. I’m done posting, listening to some music, watching the last episodes of Heroes Season 1 and browsing the internet. I’m not tired enough to go to bed and it’s 2.20 AM. I’ve been reading some more comics (still have many gigabytes of the stuff left) and that is getting dull too.

You know what I’m going to do until I get my 3D card fixed? I’m going to concentrate on earning some money. I have plans and I have the time. And you know what happens when I really get to work? You’ll see. Results will speak for themselves.

Don’t worry, you won’t notice a thing.

The One Lakh Car, Brings As Many Problems

Do you realise that if TATA introduces a car for Rs. 1,00,000 (one lakh), we are effectively screwed? The four metros are already choked to capacity and we do not need cheap cars. Every bugger will buy one and we’ll have a nice traffic jam covering the entire city so that everyone ends up taking a boat along the coast rather than take their chances in the traffic. It is nice to make cars affordable to more people but they really should be concentrating on moving businesses and things out of the city and making the public transport system better.

On the other hand, this will cause car prices to fall drastically in the small car segment as Maruthi-Suzuki tries to retain their market share. I actually considered going to Delhi for the auto show there but I don’t have the money right now and I doubt anyone will come with me for company.

The Ragha

Ragha does the craziest things. Back when he had his scooter I asked him to drop Suren off at his college (Anna University). When I next heard from Suren he swore that he would never go with Ragha ever again. Till now no one knows what really happened.
