Beautiful Creatures - 1 A.M.

I heard a few seconds of this song when watching Smallville and it got stuck in my head. So I tried to use Tunatic to find out what it was but for some reason the application failed to recognise it. A few days later I realised that IMDB has the information I seek (they list the soundtracks used in every episode of every TV show) and I was able to track it down.

Try it out.

Blur - Song 2

Blur - Song 2

I got my head checked
By a jumbo jet
It wasn’t easy
But nothing is, no

When I feel heavy metal
And I’m pins and I’m needles
Well I lie and I’m easy
All of the time but I’m never sure when I need you
Pleased to meet you

I got my head done
When I was young
It’s not my problem
It’s not my problem

When I feel heavy metal
And I’m pins and I’m needles
Well I lie and I’m easy
All of the time but I’m never sure when I need you
Pleased to meet you

Yeah, yeah
Yeah, yeah
Yeah, yeah
Oh, yeah

I started up FIFA ‘98 just to listen this song. The lyrics make no sense, I know.

Ballad of Serenity - Firefly Theme Song

I downloaded Firefly, a science fiction TV series after reading about it. I was impressed by the Western theme mixed with science fiction and what they were trying to do with the series. Unfortunately it got cancelled after the first season due to a mix of bad marketing and poor patronage.

The show has an unforgettable haunting theme song. Check it out here: ballad_of_serenity

Rammstein Völkerball (Concert)

Rammstein’s Völkerball DVD set released in 2006 is a collection of 140 minutes of concert footage shot at Nîmes, the audio of the concert and some band documentaries. I got hold of the concert footage recently (high quality, thankfully) and watched it… and it was mind blowing!

Rammstein concerts are always wild (pyrotechnics, flamethrowers) and insanely awesome with crazy sets (every concert has a unique set up) and the band members dressed up in odd costumes and Völkerball was no exception. The energy and power of the music combined with the stage presence of the band members kept me watching every frame of the entire concert, at times rewinding to see some parts once again. I was initially planning to describe the concert some more and then realised that words cannot do justice to how amazing it was.

Some screen grabs from the concert:

I have the concert video on disk. You have to see it!

Alien Ant Farm - Smooth Criminal

This is one of the funniest music videos ever. Originally performed by Michael Jackson, Alien Ant Farm have done an awesome job performing it.

There’s so much crazy stuff going on in the video that I don’t know what to laugh at!

Rammstein - Ohne Dich

If you thought metal was all about ear drum damaging sounds and people screaming like crazy you are only partially right. Though there are a lot of high energy songs many bands also make beautiful songs that even sissy pop lovers will find interesting.

I present to you one of Rammstein’s lighter songs.

This song is called Ohne Dich.

Find Me This Song

I’m looking for a particular song I had on tape.

It’s called Run Man Run by Ennio Morricone. The tape was called Western Hits or something like that.

I can’t seem to find it anywhere. No luck with torrents, P2P networks or websites. These are the lyrics. If you can find this song for me, I’d be very happy.

Phone + Audio System = Awesome

My 2500 watts audio system was lying unused simply because it was such a bother to burn MP3s to CD and then to play them on it.

I thought of a much more comfortable way to listen to music with it. I already had a jack that lets me use ordinary headphones with my phone. And I had the correct cables to interface the phone and the auxiliary sockets of the audio system so I did.

Now I can use the phone’s display, playlists and media library for a much more comfortable experience. I have Rammstein playing in the background. The 1 GB memory card on the phone helps too.

Pinky and the Brain

Listening to Rammstein is very relaxing, I don’t know why. Perhaps it’s because I’ve heard the songs so many times before or it’s perhaps because I don’t know the lyrics and so I don’t attempt to concentrate on the lyrics or sing along.

A Few Beautiful Songs

This is one of the most beautiful songs I’ve heard till now. It is by a well known Indian band called MotherJane and the song is called Mind Street. I’d like you to listen to it and tell me what you think.

Download: MotherJane - Mind Street

The second beautiful song I’d like you to try is Iron Maiden - Blood Brothers. I don’t usually listen to their songs but this one is exceptional. Powerful music, amazing vocals and an epic feel to the song.

Here is another favourite of mine. The theme song from the Tamil movie Manmathan. I really like this movie for the slick visuals and the amazing music.

What’s Better Than Music?

A few years ago, I used to collect music videos. I had two DVDs full of them. Two DVDs may not seem like much now but in 2004 it seemed like a great deal. I still have those DVDs, carefully hidden away at home. My precious!

I still wish to collect music videos. Easier now that I have a bigger hard disk and a DVD writer (to back them up).

The real reason I liked music videos is that I found that music videos enhanced the song. It created a tiny story within the song that added to the music. But nothing had power like Rammstein music videos. It gripped you, threw you out of this world into another and brought you screaming back at the end. Have no idea what I’m talking about? Then you’ve never watched a Rammstein music video.

Here’s one I consider excellent. Rammstein - Rosenrot
